Are you Leading by Living Above the Line?

Are you looking to grow as a leader and gain tools that empower you to positively impact culture, drive positive change, and improve the success of your team or organization?

Growing leaders often get overwhelmed by having to drop everything to provide direction whenever a team member is unsure how to solve day-to-day challenges. This session offers a more impactful way to approach your role as a leader.

Operating above the line is open and positive. It’s about encouraging ownership, accountability and responsibility within your team. Operating below the line is closed and negative. It often results in denial of responsibility, excuses, defensiveness, blame and a sense of entitlement.

Two critical components of Leading by Living Above the Line are good Active Listening skills and consistently following a strong Feedback Model. Active listening helps you understand what people are really saying in conversations, rather than just what you want to hear, or think you hear. Feedback is a critical concept in performance management. How to deliver feedback impacts the way people are able to accept it and make needed changes.

When you have a group of engaged people operating above the line, you can expect far more effective team outcomes such as:

  • Better buy-in
  • Increased innovation and creativity
  • More effective collaboration

Leaders implementing the living above the line approach benefit from:

  • Improved time management
  • Greater ability to manage change
  • Stronger leadership succession

At this half day session, you will:

  • Gain an understanding of what it means to lead by living above the line
  • Explore easy to implement tools and approaches to overcome many of the challenges leaders and teams face on a daily basis.
  • Examine the concept of active listening, which helps you understand what people are really saying in conversations, rather than what you want to hear (or think you hear).
  • Review elements of a strong feedback model and learn how to deliver a message so that people accept it and make changes.
  • Learn from the experiences of other participants within a fun and interactive virtual setting, and come away re-invigorated and ready to lead in a new way.

This session is for anyone who is looking for tools to grow as a leader - tools that empower you to positively impact culture, drive positive change in challenging times and ultimately improve the success of your team or organization.
